Central Operations is the home of over 2,300 employees who handle Fifth Third Bank's back-office functions and Contact Center services for nearly six million customers. Our goal is to operate as an efficient, behind-the-scenes machine to allow Fifth Third Bank transactions to be seamlessly executed for our affiliates and customers.

Hours: Monday - Friday 3:15-7:15p (approximate)

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of moderately complex accounting support duties in one or more of the following areas: general accounting, accounts payable, account reconciliation, accounts receivable or related financial area. Assist in providing direction and support for the entry level and intermediate accounting clerks. Responsibilities may include handling confidential Bancorp information and must maintain confidentiality.

While operating within the Bank#s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

#Reconcile assigned accounts according to established procedures: daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Work with other bank departments to identify and clear outstanding items in accounts. Perform necessary research to assist other departments in resolving issues. Establish reconciliations for new companies to insure that accounts are properly monitored. Identify and obtain appropriate supporting documentation for outstanding reconciling items.

#Assists team leader in providing direction and training to entry level Account Reconcilers. Provide training on balancing and processing daily work.

#Posts data into computerized system. Process payments or receipts of payments.

#Perform research on out of balance conditions and assign outstanding items to the appropriate department for resolution. Must work with other departments within the bank to clear outstanding items. Maintain records on all accounts reconciled.

#Provide assistance to customers with questions regarding tax deposits, outstanding checks, stop payments, etc.

#Participate in special projects as needed.

#Daily balancing of general ledger including research and resolution of rejects.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in accounting strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of two years accounting and research related experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office in Excel and Word, as well as the ability to learn mainframe systems such as Frontier, Recon-Plus, Frontier, Mobius, & TM1.
