Credit Risk Management, within Fifth Third Bank's Risk division, encompasses Commercial and Consumer Credit Risk along with our Special Assets Group. Independent from the lines of business, our team of Credit Risk Management professionals are responsible for the overall credit risk strategy, risk assessment and oversight of the portfolio of commercial and consumer loans and ancillary bank products with credit risk originated by the various lines of business. Balanced financial risk taking through a clearly established risk appetite is accomplished through underwriting, approval, monitoring and portfolio management of loans across the various lending disciplines.

The Special Assets Group supports the workout of loans with associated credit risks that have been classified at or above defined risk levels deemed too high for the bank to manage in a traditional portfolio. Together, these three departments support the Credit Risk Strategic Framework focused on creating competitive advantage through independent, forward looking and proactive thought leadership.

GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for developing analytics to assist in the identification and

evaluation of all risks related to Consumer Credit (i.e. Direct, Indirect, Credit Card, and

Mortgage).

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank#s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate technical expertise in the area of consumer credit risk.

  • Provide direct support within the Credit Risk group in the evaluation and analysis of all

consumer credit risk.

  • Analyze portfolio level information to identify and monitor key risk factors and develop

proposed solutions.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis of consumer portfolios as directed.

  • Report and analyze characteristics of the Consumer Credit in relation to

policies, guidelines and processes.

  • Establish close working relationships with the Credit functions of the various Consumer Lending

groups, while maintaining independence/objectivity.

  • Develop and/or evaluate various models used for loss forecasting, portfolio stress testing, and

other targeted analysis.

  • Monitor and evaluate problem loan statistics. Ensure that appropriate reporting of activity is

occurring consistent with Bancorp policy as well as pertinent accounting/regulatory guidance.

  • Ability to access and query a multitude of databases and create and maintain data sets as

appropriate.

  • Identify and communicate potential policy and or operational improvements that will enhance

credit quality.

  • Develop reports and documentation for FRY14M, FRY14Q, CCAR and regulatory purposes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None except project management responsibilities.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of Consumer Lending experience (origination and/or credit).

  • Minimum 2 years experience in reporting systems, database management and analytics.

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and determine next steps.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with significant volumes of data in various formats and

databases.

  • Computer Skills:

o Strong Excel, Access, SQL, Business Objects, Tableau, R and/or SAS background.

o Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various applications and business

intelligence/database tools.
