Fifth Third Bank's Wholesale division offers banking, cash management, and financial services to large and middle market businesses, government, and specialized industries. Structured Finance originates, structures, and monitors the bank debt financing of highly leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations for a select group of private equity sponsors. An Originator develops andmaintainsrelationshipswithtargetedclientstoidentifyand source deal flow. In addition, he or she develops investment ideas and opportunities for our customers.

General Function

The Managing Director, Sponsor Relationship Management / Origination (MD, SRM / OR) within Fifth Third's Structured Finance Group acts with primary relationship authority on behalf of FifthThirdBank,exercisingday-to-dayandlong-termstrategicresponsibility for managing and strengthening high-value relationships with a select list of 15-25 priority private equity groups (Sponsors) with investment specialization across a range of industry(ies).

In this capacity, the MD, SRM / OR is responsible for general client coverage and relationship development activities for his / her assigned list of priority Sponsors, as well as acting as the primary conduit for deliveryofthefullcapabilitiesofFifthThirdBank to these Sponsors. Specific objectives would include primary transaction origination of leveraged finance and M&A mandates involving covered Sponsors, and ensuring prioritization and high-qualityexecutionofthesemandatesthroughclosecoordination withkey internal partners. The MD, SRM / OR leads the firm's efforts to formulate and deliver strategic, timely and actionable M&A and financing ideas and recommendations to his / her coveredSponsors,withemphasisonopportunitiesfor theSponsors' existingportfolio companies or related to new potential investment opportunities.

The MD, SRM / OR is a strategic leader, and will play a key role in appropriately and effectively positioning Fifth Third's personnel, capabilities and expertise to up tier the firm's relationships with his orherSponsors.Inpursuitofdrivingstrongerrelationships with his / her clients, the MD, SRM / OR will seek to effectively leverage the firm's Leveraged Finance, Capital Markets and Investment Banking / M&A teams and expertise to solidifythebank'spositioning.AdditionallytheMD, SRM /OR willcontinually assess and prioritize his / her Sponsor relationships to ensure optimal deployment of the bank's human and financial capital toward high-value strategic relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and develop relationships with covered Sponsors

  • Lead a team of junior SRM / OR bankers in carrying out day-to-day coverage, origination, and transaction management responsibilities for covered Sponsors

  • Develop effective calling and business development practices that optimize time and resource management, and ensure sustainable delivery of strategic ideas / solutions for Sponsor clients

  • Establish strong working partnerships and routines with key internal partners

  • Manage and prioritize a pipeline of financing and advisory / M&A opportunities

  • Leverage superior client relationship and sales skills in addition to extensive knowledge of financing and M&A solutions and relevant M&A and capital markets activity

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May include direct or indirect supervision and direction of the day-to-day activities of junior SRM / OR bankers

  • Provide employees and key internal partners with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback

  • Develop employees to fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance career growth

Minimum Knowledge & Skills Required

  • 10+ years Leveraged Finance, Private Equity, Investment Banking or related financial services

  • Extensive knowledge of private equity, capital markets, merger and acquisition structures, and understanding / experience with credit analysis is required

  • Proven track record of originating and closing loans

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Demonstrable success originating and executing complex financial transactions

  • Bachelor's degree required (MBA preferred), ideally with concentration in Business, Finance or Accounting

  • FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses required
