GENERAL FUNCTION:

This position resides within the Wholesale IT Division, which is an exciting area within IT and Fifth Third Bank. Wholesale IT has responsibility for the systems and platforms that provide our customers with innovative and exciting payment-oriented products, capital markets and credit services. In support of the Payments and Commercial Business and their strategy, the IT organization is focused on the development of new capabilities, both online and through mobile technology, as well as the procurement and implementation of new payment-oriented and digital banking solutions.

The lead project manager position is expected to improve upon defined processes to successfully accomplish project request intake, analysis, project approvals, project execution, reporting, closure, and ongoing continuous improvement. This position will also collaborate with IT leadership and stakeholders to identify, track, and report on project(s) performance including progress, budgets, issues and mitigation countermeasures.

As a Lead Project Manager, you will be an integral part for driving, planning, coordinating, delivering and managing medium to large complex projects to success in a cross-functional, matrix reporting, and multi-vendor environment. This includes harvesting level of effort from different teams, resource identification, collecting project intake request creation, project schedule creation and changes, project status reporting, and metric reporting. Additional activities may include attending key IT project steering meetings with IT and business partners, as well as potentially executive steering committees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obtains buy-in from the executive project sponsors of the mission, vision, strategy and approach.

  2. Works with business partners to ensure all proper requirements and supporting development deliverables are accounted for and well documented.

  3. Fosters cross-functional relationships for effective project management

  4. Responsible for program and portfolio performance including; planning, monitoring, communicating project resources needs, budget performance, risk mitigation, issues escalation, and working with individual project leaders to assess and resolve problem areas proactively

  5. Initiates, compiles audits and assembles all project resources and reporting materials for key stakeholders based on agreed upon reporting lines and methods.

  6. Evaluates project risk, changes and issues, including development of contingency plans and solution and process alternatives.

  7. Operates within a fast paced environment and makes fact-based decisions.

  8. Using analytical skills to review data, draw conclusions, and take effective actions.

  9. Works with all levels of management while communicating effectively as a team player

  10. Ensures that resources assigned to the project have all the tools and information needed to perform their project tasks.

  11. Ensures that the project complies with IT Project Life Cycle methodology.

  12. Plays a lead role in managing and coordinating major systems and business projects and provides tactical and strategic input to the project.

  13. Monitors issues between projects and resolves project conflict.

  14. Participates in contract negotiations with clients, contractors and vendors.

  15. Performs project audit for projects.

  16. Other duties as required.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent, with 3-6 years of experience.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through PMI preferred.

Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems and barriers

Proven leader with divergent thinking and cultivating others

High level of attention to detail that translates into a high degree of accuracy in results.

High proficiency in the configuration, use, and maintenance of MS Project, MS SharePoint, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint required.
